Job Description

Design & Development

  • Lead basic design for new features and payment system integrations (architecture, components, database schema)
  • Define and maintain coding standards and design guidelines
  • Develop, test, and deploy production-grade Java applications end-to-end

Review & Quality Improvement

  • Review system designs to identify structural risks early
  • Conduct code reviews with a focus on maintainability, correctness, and security
  • Provide clear, actionable feedback to support team learning and improvement
  • Identify recurring issues and formalize solutions through documentation

Team Enablement

  • Bridge the gap between architecture and implementation across teams
  • Support engineers and team leads in aligning design intent with execution
  • Elevate overall engineering quality through mentorship and technical leadership

The Successful Applicant

  • 8+ years of Java development experience
  • Proven track record delivering production systems in high-traffic, transaction-critical environments
  • Strong capability in leading system design (architecture, components, database schema)
  • Experience conducting code reviews and enforcing coding standards
  • Ability to quickly understand and assess unfamiliar codebases

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with payment gateway systems or financial integrations
  • Familiarity with Spring (MVC/Boot), MyBatis, JUnit/Mockito
  • Experience with DevOps tools (e.g., Jenkins, Git, Gradle)
  • Agile/Scrum development experience
  • AWS or other cloud infrastructure experience


Language Requirements

  • English: Business level (e.g., TOEIC 800+)
  • Japanese: Not required (conversational level is a plus)
