Job Description

As a Senior Application Engineer, you will contribute to the design, development, and continuous improvement of critical platform services.Key responsibilities include:

  • Consult and collaborate with solution architects on system design and technical strategy.
  • Partner with Product Managers, QA engineers, DevOps teams, and distributed global teams.
  • Design and develop scalable server-side applications and platform solutions.
  • Gather, analyze, and define business and technical requirements with stakeholders.
  • Support test planning activities, including functional, operational, performance, and failure testing considerations.
  • Take ownership of production systems, including monitoring, troubleshooting, and defect resolution.
  • Assess technical risks and support release management activities.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation and engineering best practices.
  • Contribute innovative ideas to improve product quality, team efficiency, and development processes.

The Successful Applicant

To succeed in this role, you will have:Required Skills

  • 3+ years of experience in Java and/or Kotlin development.
  • Experience designing and developing server-side applications, including middleware.
  • Strong understanding of software development principles and hands-on programming expertise.
  • Experience working with web technologies such as HTTP, RESTful APIs, and cookies.
  • Database experience with relational databases and/or technologies such as Redis or Cassandra.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong English communication skills for collaboration with international stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interest in technology and continuous learning.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes environments.
  • Experience implementing authentication and authorization services using OAuth2 and/or OpenID Connect (OIDC).
  • Knowledge of Python, Rust, or other programming languages.
  • Experience with logging and monitoring solutions such as ELK or APM tools.
  • Knowledge of public cloud platforms, particularly Google Cloud.
  • Front-end development experience.
  • Experience with messaging technologies such as Kafka and/or RabbitMQ.

Language Requirements

  • English: Business level proficiency.
  • Japanese: Not required.
