About Our Client

Our client is a major e-commerce and technology organization operating one of Japan's largest online marketplace platforms. The business leverages modern cloud and data technologies to manage high-volume transaction data and deliver data-driven services across a large and complex digital ecosystem.

Job Description

  • Design, build, and optimize large-scale batch and streaming data pipelines using Spark, Kafka, Spark Streaming, Python, and Google Cloud Platform
  • Develop and maintain data infrastructure supporting a high-traffic e-commerce platform
  • Automate data ingestion and processing workflows to improve efficiency and reliability
  • Support the migration of data platforms and workloads from on-premises environments to Google Cloud Platform
  • Operate and maintain applications responsible for processing large-scale datasets
  • Resolve complex data storage, retrieval, and performance challenges
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and support production systems using logging, alerting, and monitoring tools
  • Collaborate with engineering teams, stakeholders, and cross-functional partners
  • Contribute to technical leadership initiatives and project delivery
  • Deliver scalable, reliable, and high-quality data solutions that support business-critical metrics and insights



The Successful Applicant

  • 5+ years of experience as a Data Engineer
  • Hands-on experience developing and operating Spark and Kafka applications
  • Strong programming skills in Python, Java, or Scala
  • Experience with Google Cloud Platform and BigQuery
  • Advanced SQL and relational database expertise
  • Proven experience building and optimizing large-scale data pipelines and datasets
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and infrastructure management
  • Strong understanding of data modeling concepts
  • Linux development experience
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills related to data processing and transformation
  • Experience managing projects and delivering high-quality technical solutions
  • Business-level Japanese communication skills (reading, writing, and speaking)
  • Conversational-level English communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with large-scale big data environments
  • Database administration and performance tuning experience
  • Strong understanding of DevOps and microservices architecture
  • Experience with Jenkins or other CI/CD tools
  • Scrum or Agile development experience
  • Experience with Looker semantic layer development
  • Previous experience leading or mentoring software engineering teams
