Job Description

  • Conduct technical feasibility studies for new features and platform improvements
  • Lead high-level system design for API Gateway and API management infrastructure
  • Create clear architecture and technical specification documents for engineering teams
  • Perform code reviews to ensure development quality and consistency
  • Develop prototype or production code when required
  • Drive technical alignment across engineering, product, and security teams
  • Define and promote API standards, best practices, and governance frameworks
  • Analyze industry trends and recommend improvements to technical strategy
  • Support multi-team collaboration within a distributed development environment



The Successful Applicant

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience, including 2+ years in architecture or technical leadership roles
  • Strong track record in technical feasibility analysis for distributed systems
  • Expertise in high-level system design (API, microservices, cloud infrastructure)
  • Proven ability to produce clear technical specifications and architecture documentation
  • Hands-on experience with API design (REST, gRPC) and API Gateway solutions (e.g., Kong, AWS API Gateway, Apigee)
  • Experience improving development processes (CI/CD, testing strategies, design reviews, release governance)
  • Ability to review code and contribute high-quality production code when needed
  • Business-level English communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with API management platforms and developer portals
  • Cloud platform experience (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
  • Knowledge of API security patterns (OAuth2, mTLS, rate limiting)
  • Experience in microservices or event-driven architectures
  • Agile/Scrum development experience
  • Basic to business-level Japanese reading and writing (not mandatory)
