Our client is a major consumer internet and e‑commerce platform in Japan, operating one of the country's largest online marketplaces. The organization delivers high-traffic digital services and continuously evolves its UI/UX and system performance to support large-scale campaigns and peak traffic events.

Job Description

  • Understand business priorities and deliver high-quality frontend services within tight schedules
  • Lead projects for assigned services, resolving technical challenges and guiding implementation
  • Design, develop, test, and release new features as well as enhance existing functionality
  • Maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot frontend services, including bug fixes and incident handling
  • Drive system improvements such as refactoring, performance optimization, and architectural enhancements
  • Evaluate and introduce appropriate technologies and frontend architectures
  • Measure load and performance, and implement improvements for scalability and stability
  • Produce clear documentation including design specifications and test cases
  • Collaborate with global stakeholders using English in day-to-day communication



The Successful Applicant

Required Skills & Experience

  • 5+ years of frontend development using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
  • 5+ years of frontend development using React, Redux, and TypeScript
  • Experience developing and maintaining unit tests, E2E tests, and integration tests
  • Hands-on experience with JavaScript testing frameworks (e.g. Jest, Intern, WDIO)
  • Strong coding and code review skills with a focus on performance, maintainability, and security
  • Experience consuming Web APIs (REST, JSON, CORS)
  • Understanding of parallel and asynchronous processing (AJAX, Promise, WebWorkers, WebSockets)
  • Investigation and operational experience in Linux environments
  • Experience with software configuration management (Git, Jenkins, etc.)
  • DevOps and system operation experience including analysis and remediation
  • Strong documentation skills (design documents, test cases, specifications)
  • Business-level English communication skills

Preferred Skills

  • Proactive mindset with the ability to identify issues and drive solutions independently
  • 3+ years of development team leadership, project leadership, or tech lead experience
  • Ability to design frontend architecture from scratch
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies
  • Experience using ESLint
  • Exposure to public cloud environments (e.g. GCP)
  • Interest in leveraging AI technologies to improve development processes and services
