Job Description

Responsibilities will be tailored based on the successful candidate's experience and strengths. You will not be expected to cover all areas, but will act as a key contributor within a collaborative global risk function.

Scope may include one or more of the following:

  • Market Risk
    • Develop and enhance frameworks such as VaR, stress testing, and liquidity risk metrics
    • Monitor exposures, position limits, and concentration risks
  • Credit Risk
    • Conduct counterparty risk assessments across clients, trading partners, and infrastructure providers
    • Support development of exposure monitoring frameworks (e.g. limits, PFE, settlement risk)
  • Model Risk
    • Review and challenge trading, pricing, and risk models
    • Assess assumptions and model performance under stress conditions
  • Operational Risk (including digital asset-specific risks)
    • Contribute to control frameworks for trading and operations
    • Assess risks related to custody models, exchanges, and broader digital asset ecosystems
  • Work closely with global teams to ensure alignment of methodologies and governance standards
  • Support senior stakeholders with risk insights to enable sustainable business growth in Japan



The Successful Applicant

  • Experience in risk management within financial services (typically 7-15+ years)
  • Expertise in at least one risk discipline (Market, Credit, Model, or Operational Risk)
    • Candidates with deep specialisation in one area are encouraged to apply
    • Candidates with broader cross-risk experience are also highly relevant
  • Strong analytical thinking and ability to operate independently
  • Good communication skills, with the ability to explain complex topics clearly
  • Experience in fintech and/or digital assets is advantageous but not essential
  • Programming skills (e.g. Python) are beneficial but not mandatory

Language Requirements

  • Fluent English is required
  • Japanese is not mandatory but preferred; conversational Japanese is acceptable for promising candidates
