A global leader in renewable energy, this company develops, builds, and operates clean energy power plants in over 20 countries for both itself and third parties. It primarily focuses on wind and solar photovoltaic power and operates mainly in Europe and North America. The company is expanding into emerging regions such as Brazil, China, India, South Africa, and the Middle East. It holds strong positions in offshore wind power and other renewable energy sectors like energy storage. This subsidiary supports its parent group's goal of doubling renewable capacity to 50 GW by 2030 as part of their strategic project.

Job Description

  • Build and maintain relationships with project owners, administrations, real estate and project brokers, and construction partners to identify and originate new projects in targeted marine areas.
  • Develop business alliances and partnerships with key stakeholders, local partners, and developers for co-development of existing offshore or new projects.
  • Acquire opportunities to secure existing projects and pipelines.
  • Expand and deliver the greenfield offshore project pipeline.
  • Support due diligence activities for new acquisitions or partnership opportunities in offshore wind projects.
  • Participate in or lead community engagement activities for development projects and liaise with stakeholders, including regulatory authorities and municipal governments.
  • Coordinate third-party consultants for environmental assessments and development approval applications.
  • Manage sea areas, port access rights, and approvals for new and existing development projects, maintaining communication with fisheries, owners, and administrations.
  • Monitor and report on the development portfolio's progress against budget and schedule.
  • Ensure updated and relevant market analysis and intelligence to analyze market movements, opportunities, and threats, proposing proactive mitigations and actions.
  • Liaise with transmission and network service providers and engineering consultants for grid connection approvals and agreements.
  • Assist in project management of procurement processes, including RFPs for equipment suppliers and contractors, and PPA origination and negotiation.
  • Maintain communication with regulatory agencies and state bodies to anticipate and analyze regulatory changes and their potential business impacts.
  • Learn and understand project financial models with support from the headquarters.
  • Support other group entities' activities to increase presence in Japan.



The Successful Applicant

  • Master Degree in Engineering, Science, or related discipline, and additional business or project management skills will be highly regarded.
  • PMP Certification is a +.
  • 10+ years' experience of managing and driving delivery of medium and large scale infrastructure projects in line with wind energy, ideally offshore wind development and/or wind development.
  • 8+ years leading high-performing multidisciplinary teams
  • Experience of managing and leading a complex, multi-functional team
  • Proven ability to balance conflicting requirements on quality, costs and time;
  • Proven ability to persuade, challenge and build credibility at all levels and across functions of the business;
  • Ability to be proactive and take responsibility for a wide range of matters, while responding to business demands;
  • Being a leader and integrator who is an inclusive and respectful individual capable of building strong relationships, influencing and collaborating with others
  • Fluent in Japanese and English
