About Our Client

Our client is a global life insurance company with an established presence in Japan

Job Description

  • Provide commercially practical advice on regulatory, compliance and legal matters, including review of sales materials and contracts
  • Disseminate an appropriate compliance culture throughout the company while supporting business objectives
  • Monitor and provide information on regulatory developments and industry best practices
  • Collaborate with other units to maintain and enhance client, regulatory and government relationships
  • Regular reporting to Internal Control Committee and the Executive Board
  • Train new employees and hold compliance seminars for all staff
  • Analyze complaints from clients and operational errors and subsequently report to management, LIAJ and the FSA

The Successful Applicant

  • Prior Compliance (or related Risk & Control) experience within the financial services industry in Japan
  • Legal knowledge of relevant regulations (FIEA, Insurance Business Act etc.) preferred
  • Ability to recommend pragmatic solutions that support business objectives while meeting legal and compliance requirements
  • Autonomous and a team player
  • High ability to analyze and think logically
  • Oral and written communication skills in Japanese and English
