Job Description

The Operations Manager is responsible for all operational aspects of the service and will actively lead efforts to improve the availability, performance and customer experience. You will drive principles of operational excellence as your team supports a diverse array of systems from indexing through to serving customer queries. In addition, you will foster local retail business relationships and drive improvements in mobile search. In this role you will focus on and be responsible for the following deliverables:

• Lead our operations group in Japan in concert with our global search team
• Monitor and improve the performance and availability of the search service while decreasing support costs
• Lead projects to support new clients, perform upgrades and optimize the deployment processes
• Lead the design and implementation of operational practices and procedures
• Troubleshoot and drive the resolution of service issues, and lead the team through high severity events
• Represent our Japanese customer’s needs to improve their overall search experience
• Spearhead initiatives to optimize the retail and mobile search experience
• Contribute to the development of our search strategy and software
• Recruit, hire and mentor a solid team of strong engineers

The Successful Applicant

• Strong leadership and sense of ownership
• Bachelors degree minimum, higher degree preferred
• Several years experience in operations and/or search
• Some experience managing a team
• Expertise operating a large-scale, 24x7 website
• Extraordinary problem solving ability
• Enthusiasm for working in a fast paced, rapidly changing environment
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Hands on technical skills in troubleshooting service issues
• Proficiency in English and Japanese is required
