About Our Client
Our client is an established, international law firm with offices around the globe and a very positive and enviable reputation in the market
New Business Development
*Work with the partners to identify opportunities for the firm to grow its business
*Responsible for contributing to the development and implementation of the client relationship strategy and leading the formal client relationship programmes for Japan.
Marketing and Communications
*Develop a solid understanding of the regional and Japan market in relevant practice and sector areas.
*Plan and initiate emails/briefings/articles on hot topics for promotional purposes;
*Ensure that summaries of relevant legal developments (and input on their relevance to key client audiences) are fed into client newsletters and briefings;
*Work with the Tokyo BD team, Asia PR and Communications Manager and Events Manager in the design of bespoke client seminars/other initiatives.
*Co-ordinate editorial contributions to firm wide/ international publications as required.
*Liaise with the PR and Communications Manager to manage the active promotion of the practice areas via press, web and print channels.
Internal communications and Training
*Ensure that active channels of internal communication relating to the activities of the Tokyo office are maintained.
*Take editorial control and manage high quality/up to date BD related content of the Japan intranet pages and other relevant online databases.
*Ensure "best practice" methods are identified and transferred to others in the Tokyo office, and shared with other BDMs.
Budgeting and Team Management
*Provide input to the production of the annual marketing budget for the Tokyo office, liaising with OMP and Head of MBD, Asia. Monitor costs against budget regularly.
*Manage the Tokyo business development team including contributing to induction, salary and performance review and development plans.
The Successful Applicant
*Degree educated, preferably in marketing/business, economics or law.
*Experience of relationship management and winning new business (either active involvement or supporting others to do it, i.e. in a way which is a relevant to selling services and building propositions around products/services).
*At least 7-10 years of experience in business development in a professional services firm is preferred
*Experience of dealing directly with senior management/partners.
*Proven track record of project management and delivering against objectives
